Do you remember when you were a child in elementary school and your teacher
would ask you what you wanted to be when you grew up? I never changed my
answer in wanting to work in the animal medical field. Growing up I did
start to realize I wasn't sure how to get my foot through that door but it
started when my friend worked as a kennel assistant and referred me. This
was my first job and I was thankful to have the opportunity to take the
first step into the field I wanted. For 8 years I worked at different
veterinary hospitals which allowed me to grow, learning so many different
skills from animal behavior, medicine, communication, work ethic, and
empathy for the most beautiful and sometimes heartbreaking situations that
can happen in this environment. I was lucky to also have coworkers that
were willing to train me, support me, give me encouragement and they became
good friends even outside of work. Working in animal medicine, no
experience is the same, you will always continue to learn new things,
expand your skills, and it's been wonderful.
